General's Highway Athletic Association of Annapolis, Rolling Knolls and Crownsville exists to instill leadership and promote the concept of teamwork among our children while ensuring all players gain confidence, build skills, play equally and have fun.

Achievements

o Ten bluebird houses were constructed and installed in the park in the spring of 2007,   resulting in the fledging of twelve bluebirds, five tree swallows and five Carolina chickadees. The committee is grateful to Bob Cieslieski for building and installing these boxes.

o   In the fall of 2007, over 600 native shrubs and trees provided by Anne Arundel County were planted in twelve areas of the park in accordance with a plan developed by committee members.

o   On October 5, 2007, students from Chesapeake Middle School participated in an environmental education and planting day at the park.

     Nearly 100 eighth graders planted over 200 trees and shrubs, gathered 20 huge bags of trash from the park premises and participated in environmental games and activities.

o   In March, 2008, five screech owl boxes will be installed with the assistance of
     Anne Arundel County employees. The committee thanks Dan Higman for his
     assistance in constructing these well-built boxes.

o   Several Eagle Scouts have made plans to meet with committee members to plan,
   design and erect an educational/informational kiosk at the park.

o   Additional community volunteers will build bat boxes in the near future and these, too,
     will be installed.

o Following a County Surveying process, planning will begin for a nature trail at the
    rear of the park.

o In the near future a slide show presentation will be made available to interested
    parties. It will be a demonstration of our goals and experiences as we made our
    way through this first reforestation project. We very much wish to share this
    knowledge with you.
